Do We Need a W-9 Form From FundEasy?

Information about IRS Form W-9

Last updated on 12 Feb, 2026

Non-profits typically need a W-9 form from any contractors they hire to provide services. However, FundEasy is a software company, similar to QuickBooks or Microsoft, not a contractor. As such, your organization does not need a W-9 form from FundEasy.

More Information About IRS Form W-9:

  • IRS Form W-9 is an IRS form that employers use to verify the name, address, and tax identification number of an individual receiving income so that the employer can notify the IRS of the amount they paid the individual.

  • Typically, the individual is someone who is working as a freelancer or independent contractor.

  • The information taken from a W-9 form is often used to generate a 1099 tax form, which is required for income tax filing purposes.
