Allow Donors to Give Anonymously
To allow donors to give anonymously to a Peer-to-Peer event, go to Event Setup > Peer-to-Peer Preferences, scroll down to the Donation Page Settings, and check the box that says "Allow donors to give anonymously." This adds a checkbox on the donation form to allow sponsors to donate anonymously. Your donor's name and contact information will be collected when they donate; however, their name will not appear to the Participant or to the public on the fundraising page.
Turning on the "Allow donors to give anonymously" setting will show the anonymous checkbox on the backend donor registration form as well so that admins can register donors who wish to be displayed publicly as anonymous.
Note: To make a donor anonymous after they have donated, please contact the support team.
Registering a Truly Anonymous Donor
As an admin, here's how to register a donor from the backend when the donor is truly anonymous (the donor's name and address are unknown, such as for a cash donation):
Turn off the setting that makes the address fields required for cash and check donations:
Go to Event Setup > Peer-to-Peer Preferences.
Scroll down to the Peer-to-Peer Page Settings (for Participants) section.
Uncheck the "Require address fields for cash and check donations" checkbox.
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Register the Donor/Sponsor:
The first and last name fields are always required when registering someone. If the first and last name of a sponsor is unknown, he/she can be registered with "Anonymous" and "Sponsor" in the first and last name fields (or use something similar that indicates anonymity).
Choose Cash from the Payment field and the contact fields will become unrequired (since the "Require address fields for cash and check donations" setting was turned off above).
Fill out the rest of the form and click Register at the bottom.
If desired, turn the "Require address fields for cash and check donations" back on by re-checking the box in step 1. This will require address fields when Participants record offline donations on their fundraising Page.
